Apparently, a video of  derogatory remark made by the Bajrang Dal activists against a minority community at a training camp at Borrigumma has gone viral and the community members feared that this might lead to breach of communal harmony.

The community members had met the Jeypore Sub-Collector over the issue on Thursday.  Local MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati also urged the locals to maintain harmony. The five persons were forwarded to court, which remanded them in judicial custody.

Casual workers threaten stir
The retrenched employees of Jeypore Road and Buildings wing of Works Department have threatened to launch an agitation if their retrenchment order is not revoked by the superintendent engineer. Sources said 21 casual workers of the wing have been working under Jeypore circle since 1993.

However, they were retrenched by the superintendent engineer when they demanded pay slips every month. On Saturday, they sat on a dharna outside the Jeypore Road and Building office over their demand and threatened to go on an indefinite hunger strike if no action is taken.
