BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Police is all set to launch a new mobile application that will provide services available on its Citizen Portal to the public. At least 13 services like lost property registration, tenant/paying guest verification request, among others will be provided through the app which is expected to be operational by the year end.The online Citizen Portal, launched under Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) project, has been supporting access to information, request for different police services, lodging of complaints, FIR copies among others.
The State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), nodal agency of the CCTNS, is developing the mobile app which will offer all the services. “The free services which are available on the Citizen Portal will also be provided without any cost on the mobile app,” an SCRB officer told this newspaper.
Odisha Police are also working to implement CCTNS, which is a project of the Centre, across the State by November 1. SCRB sources pointed that there are at least 40 more locations in the State where CCTNS is yet to be implemented. “In all these locations, connectivity is a major hurdle, but we are hopeful the system will be put in place by November 1,” the SCRB officer said.
“ here are connectivity and data transmission problems. We are working to solve these problems and the process to streamline the Citizen Portal services is also on. The CCTNS will go live across the State by November 1,” DGP Dr RP Sharma told The Express.
Odisha Police has tied-up with BSNL and ViaSat to implement CCTNS for the purpose. The BSNL contributes to about 95 per cent of the entire project.So far, the system is implemented in about 612 police stations, Odisha Police headquarters, Commissionerate Police office, and at other important installations in the State.
