CUTTACK:Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urged police to conduct investigation into offences against women, children, dalits and tribals not only on a priority basis but also in a meticulous manner.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the 65th State Police Duty Meet-2017 organised here on the premises of Reserve Police ground at Buxibazar on Monday, the Chief Minister said his government has initiated various steps to ensure enhanced security of women. “We have put in place systems for close monitoring of crimes against women and launched various campaigns to trace and rehabilitate missing children within and outside the state,” Patnaik said.

Expressing satisfaction over handling of economic offences and organised crimes by Economic Offence Wing (EOW) and Special Task Force (STF) in an effective manner, Chief Minister said Odisha police has also made excellent strides in investigation of Cyber Crimes.

Informing that three new Cyber Crime police stations at Rourkela, Sambalpur and Berhampur have been sanctioned and a few more are in the pipeline, Naveen intended police to further upgrade capability in the field of cyber crime investigation.

The Chief Minister later handed over prizes to winners and urged the participants to use the knowledge gained from State Police Duty Meet in their professional field and render best service for the benefits of the common man.
