14-member parliamentary board of O Panneerselvam group formed

CHENNAI: Three days after the V K Sasikala-led AIADMK reconstituted its parliamentary board, the rebel faction formed a similar body with 14 members giving representation to all sections of the party.
E Madhusudanan on Sunday announced the constitution of the board saying he appointed the members in his capacity as the presidium chairman in the absence of  general secretary (late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa). “Since the general secretary’s post remains vacant, in the capacity of the presidium chairman duly elected by the general council, I head the parliamentary board and appoint the members,” he told reporters.

The board consists of 13 members that included former chief minister and head of the rebel faction O Panneerselvam, former minister C Ponnaiyan, Rajya Sabha member V Maitreyan, MLA S Semmalai and former School Education Minister ‘Ma Foi’ K Pandiarajan.
Two Dalit MLAs Manoranjitham Nagaraj and K Manickam and four MPs - R Gopalakrishnan, R P Marutharaj, J Jayasingh Thiagaraj Natterjee and P Senguttuvan - too were accommodated on the board.
The other members included ‘Neelangarai’ Munusamy and S Sheik Ayub of Keezhvelur.
The newly formed parliamentary board held its meeting in the morning shortly after it was announced, according to sources.
The selection of candidate for RK Nagar by-election and the poll strategy came up for discussion during the meeting.
Former minister K P Munusamy said the parliamentary board would pick the candidate for the RK Nagar soon.
