Kurta, sarees find place in banned list for NEET exam in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI:  The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (UG) is to be held on Sunday May 7 and the dress code is similar to that of JEE Main exam. 


Students will not be allowed for the test in kurta, with hairpin, shoes, rings, chains, bangles or sarees. Male candidates should wear light coloured jeans or trousers while female candidates cannot wear brooches, high heeled shoes. 


According to the official website of neet dress code (neet2017.in/dress-code-neet-2017male-female/), candidates cannot wear a scarf, cap, jacket, shoes, full sleeved shirts, watches, sunglasses, bracelets and others. For male candidates kurta pyjama is not allowed.

For female candidates brooches, sarees, rings, bracelets, hair clips, rubber bands, saree (married or unmarried), bangles (only married women can wear), high heeled shoes are banned. Male candidates can wear only light coloured jeans, pants, shirts (half sleeve) with medium sized buttons and not big buttons, sandles or slippers. Female candidates can wear half T-shirt, trousers, leggings, lowers, palazzo, salwar, kurti (half sleeve), top and mangal sutra. 


Around 88,000 candidates have registered themselves for the national test in Tamil Nadu in eight cities. In Tamil Nadu, the test will be held in Chennai, Namakkal, Tirunelveli,Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem and Tiruchy. Students should enter the examination hall by 7:30 am, checking of admit card will be from 7:30 am to 9:45 am. Distribution of the booklet will be from 9:45 am.

No student will be allowed to enter the hall after 9:30 am. The exam will start at 10 am and end at 1 pm. The results  will be declared on June 8. 
Students should bring their admit card, passport size photograph and post card size photograph affixed on proforma.
