Six more dengue, fever deaths in TN

TIRUPUR: Dengue and fever deaths continued in the State with six more succumbing Tuesday.
In Tirupur, two teenagers died. One of them, Ganesh Kumar (14) from Sevur, was admitted to a private hospital in Avinashi after a week of fever. When his condition worsened, he was moved to a private hospital in Coimbatore. He was diagnosed, but died on Monday.

At the Salem GH, Parvathi Devi (13), daughter of a labourer based in Bhavani Devapuram, died due to mysterious fever. She was admitted to Bhavani GH and then shifted to Erode Government Hospital and later to the Salem GH, where she died.

A pregnant woman from Bodi succumbed at Theni Government Medical College Hospital on Tuesday. She was identified as Rajeshwari (26). Tiruchy recorded the death of a 47-year old woman who hailed from Thuraiyur. Reports also came in from Puducherry, where eight-year-old Gururajan died at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute on Tuesday. The serologic test showed he was dengue positive. Earlier, two adults and a child had in the UT.

In a related development, the Tiruchy corporation issued a notice to a dodgy private blood testing laboratory, Doctors Diagnostic Centre, for issuing 200-300 dengue positive certificates. Dr R Chitra, Chief Health Officer, said, “we got information about a blood testing facility in Woraiyur, which provided about 200 to 300 dengue positive reports. When we made a surprise inspection, we found several violations.”
