HYDERABAD: Extending full support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s on demonetisation,  chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao  has appealed to the PM  to move towards “total clean up” of the system to eliminate black money.

‘‘If the process stops, it is a distress to the country,’’ Rao said while speaking on a short discussion on the impact of demonetisation on the state economy.

Rao, who made a statement marking the beginning of the debate on demonetisation in the state Assembly here on Friday, said his government wholeheartedly supports the demonetisation move in the interest of the nation.

“The Central government and the Prime Minister of this country matters to me. BJP does not matter to me. I have no personal interest in supporting demonetisation. The state government will support Modi if he continues the measures for complete clean-up of the system,” the chief minister said.

“The TS government also suggests that besides currency notes, black money held in the form of diamonds, gold biscuits or bars, shares and foreign currency and the black money generation through crony capitalism and flow of black money into the country through money laundering from British Virgin Islands, Mauritius, Singapore should be regulated effectively,’’ Rao suggested to Modi.

“I support disclosure of assets and seizure of gold bars, biscuits and diamonds. Black money should not exist in any form. The demonetisation is the first step towards elimination of black money and the Centre should continue till it achieves 100 pc clean-up,” Rao said.
