Conmen planned to dupe Governor, run out of luck

The intention was to dupe none other than the office of Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, ESL Narasimhan, and enlist names of certain individuals for nomination.

HYDERABAD: The intention was to dupe none other than the office of Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, ESL Narasimhan, and enlist names of certain individuals for nomination as Members of Legislative Council(MLC) in Governor’s quota.

Matta Raghuvamsi, a former employee with the revenue department, posed himself as a Member of Parliament(Rajya Sabha) and sent letters to the Governor’s office.

Raghava Rao, who earlier worked as Village Revenue Assistant (VRA) at Shaikpet of Banjara Hills, in the process of implementing the plan, created fake and forged letters on the name of MPs, ministers and retired bureaucrats and sent it to the Governor’s office referring various names to appoint them as MLC in Governor’s quota. For this purpose, Raghava Rao allegedly collected huge amount from aspiring candidates.

However, the Governor’s office officials who received such letters had kept them aside. Recently, Matta Raghuvamsi who posed as an MP of Rajya Sabha, by creating a letterhead on his name, sent an application to the Governor’s office enclosing his fake MP letterhead by shooting questions why Governor’s officials failed to nominate some persons referred by various persons.

The Governor’s office officials, who are closely monitoring RTI applications after some persons sought Governor’s tour details, visiting temples and others, verified the letter sent by Raghuvamsi and an internal inquiry was done. In the inquiry, no one from Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh in the name of Raghuvamsi was representing Rajya Sabha and he was not nominated by President of India’s quota.

Immediately, Governor’s office staff collected the mobile number, address and other details from the RTI application provided by Raghuvamsi and lodged a complaint with CID officials.

It was also leant that Raghuvamsi and Raghava Rao have created fake and forged letterheads of various bureaucrats, VVIPs and others and sent to government officials of revenue departments in getting official favour in connection with land disputes.

Sources told Express that when Raghava Rao used to indulge in land settlements when he worked as a VRA. As Raghava Rao was involved serious offences, he was suspended from service by his superiors.
Since then, he started duping people on pretext of providing jobs in reputed companies while collecting huge amounts of cash. Many complaints were lodged against him.
