MAHABUBNAGAR: In a major step towards Open Defecation Free (ODF) initiative, the Mahbubnagar district administration on Friday decided to construct toilets in all households of Salonipally village within 48 hours. The administration is taking the help of locals district to achieve the target.

As part of this, led by district collector Ronald Rose, the administration and locals started constructing 336 toilets in the village. Located in Hanwada mandal, the village has 386 households of which only 52 have already constructed toilets.

“The administration has decided to build toilets in all the remaining houses and as part of the plan, officials have decided to educate locals about the importance of sanitation and the diseases that effect people due to unhygenic conditions. With this, the villagers decided to join in the construction of toilets in their households,” an official release said. On his part, the district collector formed 21 teams with each team comprising a special officer, MPDO and tehsildar. Each team will supervise the construction of toilers in 16 households.

“All locals have stopped their daily work and are taking part in the construction activity,” the release said. Officials provided 95 bricks, one cement sack and two sacks of sand to build individual toilets in each and every household of the village.
