HYDERABAD: With Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending the three-day DGP’s conclave, the DGPs of the two Telugu states will present initiatives of the police department. The police bosses of the two states will be presenting their achievements before the PM.
While Telangana State DGP Anurag Sharma is likely to present the state’s initiative in introducing cutting edge technology including bringing out new Apps to accept complaints from public and also other people-friendly policing, his AP counterpart will discuss the recent encounter of 31 Maoists which is considered a blow to the Naxals.
The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVP NPA) will be hosting the three-day DGPs conclave of all states from November 25-27. Modi would inaugurate the conclave and also attend the proceedings of the second day. The conclave would discuss terrorism, cyber crime, extremist activities that are posing a major threat and would also look at for how to solve the challenging issues. Sources said Anurag Sharma will be submitting a report on law and order, initiatives taken up by the police after the formation of State.
Telangana police are the first in the country to utilise technology by uploading First Information Report (FIR) copies on its official portals even before the Apex Court’s directions. “Despite Maoist activities having gone down in the state, some of the suspects were nabbed. A few state police personnel have laid down their lives combating terror elements.
Keeping in mind all these issues, the DGPs conclave will help in sharing ideas, discussing latest crime trends that have become a major threat to states and to the nation,’’ a police official said.
Anurag Sharma is likely to announce their new plan to offer services on Twitter Seva that will be introduced in all districts including newly formed districts Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda Commissionerates will help in accepting complaints and also monitoring the investigation.
The state police have associated itself with Twitter India for the service. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh DGP N Sambasiva Rao is understood to have prepared a detailed report on how the state police are combating the extremist activities.
A presentation will be exhibited in conducting the ‘Operation RK’ in which around 31 Maoists were killed in an alleged encounter in Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB).
“No doubt, the AOB encounter is a major incident in the country. The AP police will present a report explaining the operation,’’ a senior police officer told Express.
