KHAMMAM: CPM party politburo member Prakash Karat said that his party would stage a protest against the State government on March 19 for allegedly having failed to implement assurances given during the elections. Karat participated in a public meeting as part of the concluding Mahajana Padayatra by CPM at Warangal cross road on Saturday.

Addressing the meeting, he alleged that the state government had been detaining tribals cultivating podu lands in Telangana. He added that the government had failed to construct double bedroom houses in the state.

The CPM leader alleged that looting had increased and not even the slightest development has been seen in the state, adding that lack of health and education in Telangana had been appalling as well. Karat claimed that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had failed to provide three acres of land to Dalits in the State.

The CPM politburo member said that the Union government under PM Narendra Modi had scrapped the planning commission, due to which funds were not being allotted to deserving people under ST, SC and BC. He added that RSS has been playing a key role in the government in imposing its Hindutva agenda.

The former CPM general secretary contended that the ‘Mahajana Padayatra’ had received a very good response from people of Telangana, adding that people were coming together to fight for social justice. CPM party state secretary Thammeneni Veerabhadram warned that they would intensify their agitation.
