HYDERABAD: The State government has started making efforts to retain its top ranking in Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) next year too.

Chief secretary SP Singh held a meeting on the preparedness of EoDB of various departments at Secretariat here on Tuesday.

Congratulating all departments on their efforts to secure number one rank in EoDB announced in Oct 2016, Singh directed all departments to keep up the same spirit in 2017 too.
Singh reviewed activities taken up by departments and directed to ensure the reforms to be implemented at ground level. Department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP) of the Centre mooted a ‘New Business Reform Action Plan’ for 2016-17 and requested the state government to furnish  inputs, remarks and suggestions in new format. It said states would be ranked based on the level of compliance with these reforms and usage of the systems.

There are a set of 294 questions in the ‘New Business Reform Action Plan’ covering 13 secretariat departments and 27 HoDs. Out of these, four secretariat departments — agriculture, health & family welfare, food & civil supplies and roads & buildings — have been newly included in EoDB ranking plan. Another eight — commissioner of agriculture, Ayush, directorate of medical and health, drug control administration, controller of legal metrology, R&B engineer-in-chief, mines and geology department and chief electrical inspectorate — have been added to the list of HoDs.

He directed all departments which were part of EoDB-2016 to offer hand-holding services to new departments in the implementation of the reforms. The new action plan for EoDB was formulated and each department has appointed a nodal officer for implementing reforms.
The chief secretary has requested all principal secretaries/secretaries/HoDs to ensure that all reforms are put to use by March 2017.
