NALGONDA: In a shocking case, the husband of the matron of a tribal welfare residential school allegedly sexually abused several inmates of the hostel for several days till the girls gathered courage and reported the matter to the child helpline.
Chandampet police, who took up investigation, filed a case under POSCO against the husband of the residential school matron on Sunday.
The incident took place in tribal welfare girls residential school at Neredugomma. The hostel matron Vijayarani and her husband Raju also live on the premises of the residential school. Police said that Raju used to enter the hostel rooms of class VI students and misbehave and molest them and this was going on for the past few days, police said.
As the person harassing them is the husband of the school matron, the students feared of backlash and did not lodge any complaint to the matron. Unable to bear the harassment anymore, some students gathered courage and lodged a complaint with the child helpline. The people at the helpline took up the matter with the officials concerned.
On the directions of the higher officials, tribal welfare officer Venkateswara Nayak and Chandampeta SI Satheesh Kumar conducted and inquiry. A case under POSCO has been registered against the accused. However, Raju is absconding.
