HYDERABAD: A 76-year-old realtor in Hyderabad was arrested by the Rachakonda police for harassing a 24-year-old woman  by repeatedly calling her on phone, inviting to join him for a long-ride. Based on a complaint lodged by the girl, the septuagenarian was nabbed and produced before the court.

The girl (24), an MBA student, who is a resident of Kushaiguda,  went to a temple in the neighbourhood along with her grandfather on May 18, where the latter fell ill. The septuagenarian identified as Vinod Dewan, who was at the temple, offered help and dropped the duo at their home in his car.

Dewan took the phone number of the woman and started harassing her with repeated phone calls to accompany him for a long drive. The girl initially thought it was just for fun and rejected his invitation. But, he continued calling her and pressurised her to join him for the drive, Rachakonda commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said.

The woman sent a WhatsApp message to SHE Teams number ‘9490617111’, requesting for help. The Kushaiguda SHE team, based on the complaint, registered a case and apprehended the accused.
