Andhra students bag top ranks in Telangana State EAMCET 2017

HYDERABAD: Students from Andhra Pradesh topped in both engineering and pharmacy streams of Telangana Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test, commonly called as TS- EAMCET 2017, the results of which were announced on Monday at the JNTUH UGC HRDC auditorium here.

G Jayanth Harsha from Guntur, secured the first rank in the engineering stream of Telangana EAMCET 2017 with a score of 156 out of 160 and KNVS Neastham Reddy from Kakinada stood first in the agriculture, pharmacy and other groups with 150 marks.

With 156 marks K Ram Prasad from Srikakulam of AP and with 155 marks A Sai Bharadwaj from Kothagudem of Telangana secured the second and third ranks respectively in engineering stream.

G Pradeeth Sundar Reddy from Ongole of AP secured second rank with 153 marks and G Abhinav Reddy from Gajwel of TS with 151 marks stood third in agriculture and allied groups.

No girls featured in the top 10 engineering scorers and only three made it to the toppers list in agriculture and pharma stream.

Interestingly, only four students from Telangana made it to the engineering top 10 list as against five from Andhra. In the agriculture and allied group, five candidates from both the states appeared in the coveted list.

The examination which was held on 12 May 2017 across 400 centres by the conducting body Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Hyderabad, saw 2,20,248 registrations -- 1,41,136 for engineering and  79,033 for agriculture and pharma group. However, only 1,31,899 aspirants (93.46 per cent) in engineering and 73,000 aspirants (92.99 per cent) in agriculture and others appeared for the exam. 

Of these, 98,596 students or 74.75 per cent in engineering and 63,570 students or 86.49 per cent in agriculture and pharma courses qualified this year's EAMCET.

Dr N Yadaiah, convener of the exam said scanned copies of the OMR answer sheets of all candidates will be uploaded on the website eamcet.tsche.ac.in between 24-26 May to enable transparency. For any discrepancies in evaluation, candidates will have to submit their representation between 25-27 May. Rank cards will be uploaded on the website on 28 May, he added.
