NIZAMABAD: While a person was allegedly making arrangements for his fourth marriage, his former wives and women activists staged a dharna in front of his house and exposed his character in Gutham Nagar area of Nizamabad district on Tuesday.
According to police, they received a complaint from women activists that one Pawan Kumar Chakre, a small contractor and also having worked as a priest in several temples in the past, had already been married thrice.
His former wives, Vimala Bai from Nanded, Devi from Nirmal, and Rani from Kerala state, along with women activists staged a dharna in front of his house on Tuesday. Pavan Kumar, through middlemen, had popularised his status as a rich person in the society who was searching for suitable matches. He would agree for marriage by asking for dowry in lakhs and later after marrying, he would fight with his wife over small issues and get separated from them.
This was the regular practice in all the three cases. On Tuesday, while Pawan was getting married for the fourth time, all the women staged a protest.When contacted, III Town police sub-inspector (SI) R Krishna said that they have registered the case.
