HYDERABAD: Three months after ending the compulsory rural service rule for Post Graduate medicos, the State government came out with guidelines on appointment of senior resident doctors in government medical colleges on Friday.

In March, Telangana government revoked the one-year mandatory rural service for medical students pursuing PG. As part of this compulsory rural service, PG medical students used to join as senior resident doctors in government hospitals.

Setting an age limit on the selection of senior resident doctor, the new guidelines mandate that a person should have completed 39 years as of July 31, 2018, and should have an MD/MS/DNB degree and marks scored in the PG theory examination. The guidelines also mention that the local fresh batch students of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences should be given preference over others and if two people have same marks, then age will take precedence

As per the guidelines, selection of senior resident will be subject-wise and college specific. A committee will be constituted at the college level by the principal and should include superintendent and three college council members. The selection of candidates will be as per guidelines of Medical Council of India (MCI) prescribed for senior residents. The cutoff date for submission of application forms for Osmania Medical College and Gandhi Medical College is July 25.

Last date
The cutoff dates for submission of application forms is August 3 for Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, Government Medical College, Siddipet, Government Medical College, Mahaboobnagar, Government Medical College, Nizamabad and RIMS, Adilabad
