HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh state government officials wanted Telangana State officials to give in writing how TS was going to bifurcate the assets of AP State Council of Higher Education. The officials of both the States held a meeting on the bifurcation of institutions listed in the X Schedule of AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.

AP officials wanted their TS counterparts to follow the judgement of the Supreme Court and bifurcate the assets of the AP State Council of Higher Education in 58:42 ratio. The Telangana officials informed that they would give their view on this within a week. When AP approached the apex court, the court directed the both states to divide the assets in 58:42 ratio. The AP officials wanted the assets of other institutions listed in the X Schedule too should be bifurcated in the ratio of 58:42

But, the TS officials disputed over this. The Apex Court judgement would not be applicable to all the Institutions, the TS officials said. The TS officials even contended that there was no mention in the apex court’s judgement about the bifurcation of assets of AP State Council of Higher Education in the 58:42 ratio.
However, the TS officials assured AP officials that they would give their views in writing within a week time.
L Prem Chandra Reddy, secretary of the State Reorganisation (SR) Department of AP,  principal secretary Finance of Telangana S Ramakrishna Rao and other officials attended the meeting on X Schedule here in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

As AP and TS governments are likely to stick to their stands on the issue,  there will be much breakthrough even after the TS’ written reply to AP.
