Officials instructed to identify schools running sans permission

Strict action will be taken against the schools charging excess fee, says HRD minister

VISAKHAPATNAM: HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao has asked the education officials to identify the schools running without mandatory government permission.In a meeting with District Educational Officers (DEOs), Sarva Sikhsha Abhiyan (SSA) project officers and others officials of Education Department at AU Platinum Jubilee guesthouse on Monday, Sinivasa Rao appealed to the parents not to admit their children to such schools. 


“Every private school must display their fee structure and strict action will be taken against the schools charging excess fee,” he said.


The minister said that it’s high time the government schools initiated measures to improve the quality of education on par of corporate schools by adopting methods to keep a strict vigil on the performance of students. 


Admitting that the government schools are yet not succeed in building up confidence among the parents, he instructed the officials to ensure beautification of school premises by undertaking plantation drives. 
The minister also asked the RTA authorities should to make sure that no school bus is ferrying students without fitness certificate, apart from keep an eye on the auto-rickshaws carrying children for overspeeding and overloading.

Lawson’s Bay Park inaugurated
Vizag gets another scenic park with children play area and facilities for walkers, just beside the beach. The “Lawson’s Bay Park”, developed by Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and delayed with a few pending issues and works for the last couple of years were completed, was inaugurated by HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Monday evening. According to the GVMC authorities, the park had been developed at a cost of `2.65 crore.

It includes a play arena for children, landscaping, plantations, walking area for walkers and seating arrangement. Boundary sheets were arranged near drains. The officials say that the park would attract not only Vizagites but also tourists. On the occasion, Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that they would be developing seven beaches  between RK Beach and Bheemili. He also asked the officials to set up more amenities to the public in the park.
