1.Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire
Swift Dzire has been around for a long time and has a certain amount of reliability factor associated with it which is one of the main reasons why people opt for Maruti Suzuki. The largest car manufacturing firm in India sold a whopping 1,93,680 units of Dzire this year. Swift Dzire has a 1.3 litre 16V DDiS engine with 1248cc displacement returning power of 74bhp at 4000rpm and 190Nm torque at 2000rpm. The sedan uses a 5 speed manual transmission system and comes out with a mileage in the range of 18.6kmpl to 23.4kmpl.
2.Honda City
This is another veteran model in the sedan segment that has stayed strong over the past few years as the reputed Japanese car maker Honda sold an impressive 71,314 units of it in 2014. This makes Honda City the second highest selling sedan in 2014 till November. The sedan comes with a 1.5 litre 16V DOHC i-DTEC diesel engine with a displacement of 1498cc. Just like Honda Amaze, Honda City also generates a power of 98.6bhp at 3600rpm and a torque of 200Nm at 1750rpm. The addition of diesel was the key to its success this year.
3.Honda Amaze
Honda Amaze sold 60,325 units in 2014 and is second entry from Honda in this list. The sedan has another credential associated to it with its name instilled in Guinness book of world record for the category of 'Longest journey by a car in a single country'. Honda Amaze comes with a 1498cc engine churning out a power of 98.6bhp and a torque of 200Nm. The sedan offers a top speed of 165kmph and works with a 5 speed manual transmission system. The time that the sedan takes to go from 0 to 100 kmph is 13.3 seconds. Fuel economy is also on a healthier side with 25.8kmpl.
4.Hyundai Xcent
Holding the fourth spot on the countdown is Hyundai Xcent selling 48,410 units in 2014. This compact sedan is powered by 1.2 litre Kappa Dual VTVT engine and delivers power of 71bhp at 4000rpm and torque of 180Nm at 1750 to 2500rpm. The displacement for the car is 1120cc and gives a mileage of 18.9kmpl in cities and 24.4kmpl on highways. Top speed for the car is 156kmph whereas Xcent manages to reach 100kmph mark in 18.6 seconds.
5.Hyundai Verna
Selling 32,238 units from January to November, the fifth entry in our list is Hyundai Verna. The car has been receiving a lot of critical praise for its fluidic design philosophy. Under the hood, the vehicle has a 1.6 litre 16V CRDi engine with a displacement of 1582cc. Maximum power churned out of the car is 126.32bhp at 4000rpm while torque produced is 259.8Nm at 1900 to 2750rpm. The sedan has a top speed of 190kmph and reaches 100kmph from 0 in just 10.62 seconds.
