Maruti Suzuki has unleashed yet another product in the season in the form of Alto K10, the powerful version of Alto 800. The base model of this new Maruti Alto K10 Lx is available at a price tag of INR 3.06 lac while the top end variant is priced at INR 3.56 lac. Besides, the AMT and CNG models of Alto K10 are priced at INR 3.80 lac and 3.81 lac respectively, all priced ex-showroom, Delhi. A total of six variants will be available viz. LX, LXi, VXi, VXi (O), VXi (Auto Gear Shift) and LXi (CNG MT).

Automatic Manual Transmission (AMT) is believed to be another subsequent step in the passenger vehicle segment as car manufacturing companies witnessed the success of Maruti Celerio that started a new revolution, compelling the manufacturers to introduce AMT technology enabled cars in the market. In this respect, Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 with such technology becomes the third car launched in the country after Celerio and Tata Zest. The availability of automatic gearbox in this new Maruti Alto K10 outlines its superiority from other entry level cars available in the market today. Moreover, it is also the cheapest automatic car, below the price of Celerio by a substantial margin of INR 30,000. Moreover, looking at the overwhelming response, Maruti Suzuki is also expected to introduce its another best selling car, WagonR with AMT technology. However, there is no concrete info on this.

Under the hood, this magnificent Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 has received a powerful 1-litre K-Next petrol engine with 3-cylinders that possess a superior level of compression ratio. The engine generates max output of 67bhp and 90Nm of peak torque which provides extra smooth and swift drive. The engine comes mated to 5-speed manual or auto gear shift transmission system. As far as the fuel efficiency is concerned, this new Alto K10 put forwards a mileage of 24.07kmpl, a 15 percent increase over the previous version while the CNG version of new Alto K10 returns 32.36 km/kg.

This new Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 is based on the very same platform of Alto 800 but has received its own up-gradations internally as well as on the outside with respect to design and appearance. The new Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 has got energetic looks that simply distinguishes this new model from others. It has received a chrome fitted front grille, new swept back headlamps, redesigned bonnet line along with amendments for tail lights, restructuring of bumpers, 13 inch wheels, ORVMs, door moulding and some other minor modifications. The car will be available in three new fascnating colors Granite Grey, Tango Orange and Cerulean Blue while other three Fire Brick Red, Superior White and Silky Silver are carried forward from the outgoing model.

Interiors too have been uplifted. A new dashboard will be seen in dual black and beige color scheme, new 3-spoke steering wheel, refined upholstery, black finished music system and a better looking instrument cluster. Other convenient features inside the car include front power windows, 12 V power socket, internally adjustable ORVMs, headlamp warning buzzer, key off reminder and gearshift indicator.

This new Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 is definitely a pre-eminent deal for money as it has raised the technology level as well as the design standard for itself in the segment, ringing alarm bells for the rivals. Moreover, an automatic transmission that is slightly costlier than the corresponding manual transmission version might attract the buyers, eventually benefiting Maruti Suzuki to maintain the swiftness in the sales. It would be interesting to watch who outshines who in the small car segment.
