Ford Mustang GT Spotted in India, Launch Due in Festive Season

Since the time Ford announced to bring its muscle car Mustang in India, it has been the word of mouth among auto buffs in the country and they are eagerly waiting to have a glimpse of this vehicle. Well, the dream of many of the car enthusiasts is soon to fulfil as the pony car has made its way to India and will be launched somewhere during the festive season.

As of now, Mustang has been caught on lenses for the first time at the ARAI centre possibly for government approvals and to fulfil added formalities. The Ford Mustang was a left-hand drive vehicle for 50 years in the row and for the first time, it is going to endow a right-hand-drive layout and luckily India is one such key market to welcome this new vehicle. Expected to carry a price tag of Rs. 60-65 lac, the upcoming car will make its way to India through CBU route.

Mechanically, the muscular Mustang will be powered by a gigantic 5.0-liter V8 engine, which is competent to deliver a maximum power output of 418 PS at 6500 rpm and a massive 524 Nm of max torque. However, globally the vehicle is also available with a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost and a 3.7-liter Ti-VCT V6. As far as transmission in Mustang is concerned, the engine has been packed with Ford’s - 6-speed SelectShift Automatic gearbox though it also comes with a 6-Speed manual transmission.

On the design front, the newly spotted car flaunts orange shade and looks burly with a long bonnet with eagle-eye shaped lustrous headlamps. Moreover, the black grille with Mustang’s logo in centre salute the brawniness of this Ford vehicle. On the side profile, Mustang sports 19” Ebony black painted multi-spoke aluminium wheels that further adds to the muscularity of the vehicle. On the rear part, the vehicle no doubt carries the same horny yet charming persona with the help of projection lights, a unique pattern tail lights with thick black strip and rear spoiler.

Inside the cabin too, Mustang GT adopts the same chic and bold exterior design. The luxurious comfort and alluring ambience will make occupants fall in love with the car. In terms of creature comfort, the vehicle comes packed with a list of features including plush leather trimmed seats, dual-zone Automatic Climate Control, 50/50 split foldable rear seats, leather-wrapped tilt-adjustable steering wheel with mounted controls, power foldable OVRMs with integrated indicators, MyKey feature for different drivers, 4-gauge instrument cluster and the list goes on.

Once launched in the country, Mustang is sure to get a huge list of call to take it home. After all, it's first India launch of iconic muscular Ford vehicle. This is actually one of those four new launches that Ford announced to do in the year 2015. It is true that with only 4 models in its Indian lineup, Ford is lagging in the competition and it’s high time when the carmaker thinks about his Indian journey more thoroughly. The new cars that will make their Indian debut from US auto giant are Ford Figo Aspire sedan, next-gen Figo hatch and new Ford Endeavour.

Briefing about the Figo Duo- the cars are built on Ford’s new Kinetic design scheme. They will get their power from both diesel and petrol mills. The petrol motor will be a 1.2 litre TiVCT mill, which is competent to deliver 85-90 bhp power and 120Nm torque while the diesel engine will be a detuned version of 1.5-litre TDCI mill, which is currently powering Fiesta and EcoSport. The said engine will be belting out 75bhp power output and 195Nm torque. Figo Aspire will give competition to some of the formidable names like Swift DZire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent while Figo hatch will lock horns with Swift hatch, Fiat Punto and others.
