This may be the dream comeback for the Jazz. A debut with 1.5 L i-DTEC diesel engine exclusive for the Indian market, it comes with an advanced CVT with paddle shift technology with the petrol variant. Ammar Alvi checks out the latest Honda.

The Jazz is a global model in Honda’s line-up and is appreciated worldwide for its functionality, fun to drive and refinement. The Jazz has been developed at Honda’s R&D centre in Tochigi, Japan. The car has been designed on basis results obtained from extensive market surveys across the world, including India for people’s driving needs and lifestyles.

The diesel Jazz is powered by the 1.5L i-DTEC engine of Earth Dream Technology series offering a fuel economy of 27.3kmpl (as per ARAI). This engine delivers a maximum power of 100ps@3600 rpm and a maximum torque of 200 N-m@1750 rpm. It has been mated to a newly developed six-speed manual transmission that is light, compact, and attains impressive transmission efficiency. The petrol variant of the Jazz is powered with a refined 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine that delivers a maximum power of 90 ps@6000 rpm and a torque of 110 N-m@4800 rpm. It delivers a fuel efficiency of 19 kmpl (as per ARAI).

The dynamically advanced exterior design of Jazz combines a sporty and dynamic cabin with substantial lower body emphasising width and stability. The sharp and well defined character lines provides sporty and premium look to the exterior. With features like LED tail and stop lamp, tail gate spoiler, rear micro antenna, 15-inch sporty alloy wheels, stylish fog lamps, sleek turn indicators on door mirrors, the Jazz looks very refreshing.

The interiors feature a host of advanced interior equipment like auto A/C with a touch screen control panel, a highly visible always lit three-eye meter array with eco-assist function, steering wheel with buttons for audio and hands free control, Advance integrated audio with 12.7 cm (5-inch) screen and rear parking camera with. The top variant of the Jazz consists of an advanced integrated 15.7 cm (6.2-inch) touchscreen Audio Visual Navigation (AVN) system with camera display and DVD playback.

The Jazz also offers excellent maneuverability with 5.1 m minimum turning radius. It boasts of a spacious boot of 354 litres and intelligent storage spaces with nine cup holders to ensure a spill free ride. With a ground clearance of 165mm, the ground contact performance Jazz has been improved by changing the exhaust layout around the wheelbase centre for India.

The Jazz has the enhanced Magic Seat offering four-mode configuration to achieve multiple seating and cargo carrying configuration in additions to the standard five-passenger mode. It is available in five variants in petrol and diesel and comes with a two-year or 40,000 km warranty. Price: petrol  from Rs 5.3 lakh and diesel from Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
