Land Rover has always been one of the most powerful names when we talk about SUVs and one of the reasons for that is the ability of the firm to constantly adapt and innovate. The introduction of Range Rover Sentinel is a great example of the same. This time around, the Tata-owned automaker has almost brought out a tank. In fact, it is a fortress travelling on wheels that can sustain some of the most catastrophic damages. Range Rover Sentinel takes the popular Range Rover Autobiography as its blueprint with the team of Land Rover Special Vehicle Operation team hand-building the vehicle. The construction was done at the Oxford Road manufacturing facility aiming to deliver value like never before.

So what exactly is Range Rover Sentinel offering that makes it such a formidable force. Let’s check it out.

Certified Protection Against Ballistic threats

First of all, Range Rover Sentinel comes with a full certification for VR8 standard that protects the vehicle against ballistic threats by QinetiQ. The QinetiQ is currently an independent organization that was previously a part of the Defence Establishment Research Agency for the British Government.

Six Piece Armoured Passenger Cell

This alone should be enough to give the car, enough credibility as far as compactness is concerned. However, this is the just the starting of what seems like an endless array of protection features that further includes a six piece armoured passenger cell keeping people at the back, safe and sound. The cell uses super-high-strength steel that is further bolstered by the multi-laminated armour privacy glass with optical quality.

Ability to Sustain Bullets, TNT and DM51 Grenade

If we quantify this protective covering, the exterior of Range Rover Sentinel has the ability to resist a 7.62mm high velocity piercing bullets. In fact, Range Rover Sentinel can even go a notch higher having a lateral protection against 15kg Trinitrotoluene blasts and DM51 grenade explosions from above the roof or beneath the vehicle.

Off-roading Abilities Remain Intact

With all the extravagant set of safety features, Range Rover Sentinel still keeps its off-road ability alike and kicking with an upgraded suspension system that can sustain any extra weight.

Self Healing Fuel Tank and a Split Charging System

Range Rover Sentinel comes with a self healing fuel tank while there are plenty of other interesting features as well including anti-tamper exhaust, split charging system and auxiliary backup battery. There are smart additions as well including a 100mm opening which is just enough for delivering documents.

The Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations was very proud of the new Range Rover Sentinel stating that the vehicle is the most extraordinary Range Rover ever produced offering class-leading levels of protection.

Under the hood, the engine is impressive to say the least with 3 litre supercharged V6 engine working in sync with the specially calibrated ZF 8-speed gearbox. The braking system is quite powerful as well using 380mm front disc brakes and 365mm rear ventilated disc brakes.

The SUV should be available at a price of around Rs.2,96,93,104 excluding all the taxes and offering a three year/50000-mile warranty with it.
