BENGALURU: I am 25 years old. I am having sudden breakouts on my forehead after taking contraceptives. I wanted to know if contraceptives can cause severe breakouts.
The current generation oral contraceptives usually do not cause acne. Sometime when high dose is used, it can cause breakouts. An underlying hormonal problem can also be a major reason while contraceptives can be falsely implicated. It’s better to consult a dermatologist to figure out the actual cause for acne.
I am 26. I recently had a common cold. I started using inhaler and now, I am unable to get rid of the habit. I am addicted to using it. What can help?
Inhalers do not cause addiction. Common cold is a self-limited viral phenomenon, where the use of inhalers is not necessary. They are mainly used for treating asthma. In case the cold is due to allergy which is very common in Bangalore, nasal sprays are recommended under supervision. But again, nasal sprays too don’t cause addiction.
I have been smoking for six years now and I am planning to quit. Could you please help? Will I suffer from withdrawal symptoms if I quit all of a sudden? What should I do? How can I manage. I am 28.
Abruptly stopping smoking can cause withdrawal symptoms. Several different treatment options are available for nicotine withdrawal like nicotine gum, nicotine skin patches. Oral drug like, Bupropion and Champix can also be used under medical supervision. These help with the de-addiction process.
