BENGALURU: The Karnataka State Government First Grade Colleges Guest Faculties Association has threatened to boycott the upcoming undergraduate examinations and evaluation of answer scripts if the government fails to ensure their job security.
The association said the government “is not bothered” about guest lecturers’ demands despite their month-long protests. There are over 14,000 guest faculty members working at various government degree colleges across the state.
“When you look at the permanent staff at government degree colleges, the number is just 4,000 and we are 14,000,” Shrinivasachar, president of the association told a press conference on Monday.
Their top demand is job security and consideration of seniority while recruiting fresh faculty members. “Other states, including Delhi, give importance to guest faculty in recruitment and provide job security,” he said.
“If the state government is really concerned about our issues and committed to resolve them, then the Chief Minister must call an immediate meeting with guest faculty headed by Prof Baraguru Ramachandrappa,” he added.
