Vidhana Soudha corridors to be thrown open to public for ‘Namma Bengaluru Habba’

BENGALURU: This Sunday, visitors will get a rare glimpse into the corridors of Vidhana Soudha as the state government has decided to throw open the gates to the public for the ‘Namma Bengaluru Habba’, an event aimed at promoting brand ‘Bengaluru’. The event will seek to promote the food, culture, tradition, history and the cosmopolitan nature of the city to residents as well as visitors.

Announcing the ‘habba’ on Thursday, Tourism Minister Priyank M Kharge said, “The purpose of the event is to promote Bengaluru as a brand like New York, Singapore and Paris. Bengaluru must be seen as a tourist destination which will also contribute to the city’s revenue.” The government is banking on the popular festival method to give a much-needed fillip to tourist visits to the city.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will also release a logo for the ‘habba’ as well as a mobile application The crowdsourced logo was finalised with the help of several institutions in the city. There will also be themed tourist circuits for the convenience of visitors. “We have come up with eight circuits including Lalbagh, Cubbon Park and even a pub circuit. We have also chosen a private cab service which will offer tours of the city,” Kharge said.

The app will have information on Bengaluru’s history, list of tourist places, traditions, culture, information on events and other services like emergency helpline numbers. Sunday’s event will have several zones including a food and shopping zone in the Ambedkar Veedhi zone of Vidhana Soudha. Workshops will be held in the garage and covered parkingarea and all areas will have live performances by musicians and performers. No vehicles will be permitted inside Vidhana Soudha on Sunday.
