Hi Alok, Let us take a step back and understand turtles as a species. There are many different types of turtles depending on the geography of origin, age etc. Each of these species needs specific care for them to flourish. Contrary to the popular belief, turtles need a lot of care and attention and also are quite active and hence will require dedicated time to keep them comfortable and well. First step is to understand what type of turtle you have.

One area that you need to focus on is the environment of the turtle. If your turtle is of the land dwelling kinds, a small wade pool would suffice. However, an aquatic turtle would require an aquarium with a 200ltr capacity or more. Such aquariums have to be cleaned and maintained regularly. Similarly depending on their type and origin, different turtles require different temperatures to survive. Accordingly, you have to substantiate the pet area with either heating devices or make sure the aquarium water is at the right temperature. In certain species, adequate sunlight is a necessity and cannot be compromised.
The same applies to the dietary needs. Turtles will need an omnivorous diet, and would require a fresh supply of fish, insects, vegetables and even small animals.Choose commercial foods only if you have researched thoroughly on its nutritional offering. They would need fresh supply of drinking water which has to be replenished everyday.

There is plenty of information sources that can help you understand what type of turtle you have, and accordingly what his natural needs are. In general, they are very sensitive to small changes like sudden increase in pure water as compared to the old water they have been in etc. Thus make sure you learn as much as possible about your turtle.
Make sure you consult a good veterinarian for guidance.
