BENGALURU : Make your Tuesday more exciting with an extended happy hours and music by the band ‘No Strings Attached’. The band will perform popular English songs. The band is working on an on-stage ensemble that involves costumes and more. “That’s all I can tell you for now, but you’ll know soon enough!,” says Swastik, a band member. Formed in 2015 when the members were in college, the band was initially called Rocco and the Retards. “We still like the name,” he says, adding, “We were a group of four really good friends who were just crazy about making music.” Later, two of the band members left for work and higher studies.

No Strings Attached  wants to play with musicians from
across the world

The band started originally with the idea to collaborate with a lot of musicians from all around the world, without any strings attached. “So that’s how we came up with the name,” he says.Speaking about their music making process, the band says it’s usually the guitarist who comes up with a catchy riff, and then they jam over it, without any intentions or rules.

“It’s a free experience, open to all suggestions and changes. That’s when we come up with a groove and a melody. From then on, the vocalist usually comes up with the lyrics, based on the mood of the song, and we run over the track together a hundred times to fine tune all the kinks,” adds Swastik.

He believes that Indian instruments gels well with Western music. “I am a percussionist. I pick up some English songs and do fusion with tabla. The fusion works really well and I have got some good response from the audience on my YouTube and Instagram accounts.”The band is working on a new sound which they call Electro Carnatic Funk. “We’re kicking funk music up a notch with electro beats and Carnatic elements. That’s a work in progress, right now,” he says.
