BENGALURU: Koramangala police has arrested an MBA graduate, who had allegedly robbed electronic gadgets worth `3 lakh from two office premises that he had entered posing as a senior police officer. His associate was also held. Two separate complaints were lodged against him.The arrested is Irfan Pasha, a resident of BTM Layout and his accomplice is Arbaaz Khan.
A senior police officer said that Pasha couldn’t get a job even after completing his MBA course. He was fascinated with the job of a police officer and decided to don the role of a senior police officer to make easy money. He had stolen a visiting card from a relative who worked at the Department of Personal and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) in Vidhana Soudha. Pasha then duplicated the identity card with his photograph and name with designation of Government Commissioner, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (e-Governance).
On September 16, Pasha along with his associate Khan, visited an office of a famous local search engine company in Koramangala and threatened the security guard stating that he had come to seize smuggled goods stocked inside. Then, he took three iphones and an iPad claiming that they were taking it for inspection. Later, he had gone to an automobile showroom on Hosur Road and robbed electronic gadgets from their office too using the same trick.
The security guard informed his owner, who, after hearing the incident, had doubts of Pasha being a police officer. Both owners had approached Koramangala police who had obtained CCTV footage and nabbed Irfan and Arbaaz immediately. They were booked under robbery and impersonation charges.They conducted raids in offices on the pretext of inspection by showing fake ID card. Pasha had bought a police uniform, helmet and a revolver holster from BVK Iyengar Road. However, he had no revolver.
