KOCHI: LineOn Power, manufacturer of solar power devices, will start its new factory and office at Palarivattom on Saturday.

LineOn Power managing director T J Subhash told mediapersons here on Friday that the product from the new factory will be launched within two months. The company is also planning to manufacture solar panels within two years.

LineOn is a subsidiary of the Supra Group, manufacturer of power control equipments and systems. The company manufacture a wide range of solar products, including solar lighting systems, invertors, UPS systems, DC power supply, DC to AC converters for communication applications, battery chargers, SMPS and energy saving systems.

Subhash said that the natural resource, solar energy, can be used to generate electricity using photovoltaic solar cells and concentrated solar power.

Though the initial cost of the solar equipment is lightly high, a user can recover his investment in three to five years through savings in electricity bills and maintenance.

During the past decade, the prices of solar equipment have come down considerably and will continue to do so because of technological innovations. It has been proved that solar cells are totally silent, non-polluting and does not harm the environment.

He said that solar energy does not pollute air by releasing carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, sulphur dioxide or mercury into the atmosphere like many traditional forms of electrical generation does.
