NEW DELHI: After successfully setting up power plants in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu Lanco Infratech is on a major global expansion eyeing power projects from Bangaldesh to Indonesia to Africa.

Lanco Infratech has submitted bids for a 600 MW thermal project in Chittagong.  “We have qualified for projects in Bangladesh, Indonesia and in the Middle-East. They are yet to be finalised,” L. Madhusudhan Rao, Lanco’s  Executive Chairman told reporters during a press conference.

The company has also bid for one more  project of 660 MW in Bangladesh and plans to bid for 3 projects in Indonesia over the next six month.  Further, Lanco has started scouting for opportunities for setting power plants in Vietnam and the Philippines in Asia and Nigeria and South Africa.

The company plans to have a power generation capacity of 15,000 MW by 2015 in the country that will envisage a cost of Rs 35,000 crore.  The current installed capacity of the company is 3,300 MW.

Earlier  “unveiling a new logo” for Lanco, Rao said  the group has identified five core business areas – power, solar, engineering and construction, natural resources and infrastructure for future growth.

The company plans to ramp up its employee base to 20,000 individuals by 2015 from the present workforce of 7,000.
