Nippon Paint (India) Pvt Ltd has given people a reason to breathe easy with the launch of its next generation paint — Nippon Paint Odour-Less AirCare. The product is the first paint innovation in the country that uses active carbon technology which cleanses the air by absorbing an indoor air pollutant called formaldehyde.

Developed to improve indoor air quality, Nippon Paint Odour-Less AirCare uses Active Carbon Technology which has the ability to continuously absorb harmful free formaldehyde from the air and convert it to water vapour while simultaneously strengthening the paint film. Hence, the indoor air is cleaner and a healthier living environment is created.

Formaldehyde is a very common indoor air pollutant which can be found in virtually all homes and buildings. It is emitted into the air from sources such as furniture, carpeting, flooring, cabinets and wallpaper. Some people are very sensitive to formaldehyde, while others have no reaction to the same level of exposure. In particular, children and aged people are likely to be more sensitive to the emission, making them prone to sickness. Those suffering from chronic respiratory problems such as asthma and bronchitis are also more sensitive to the fumes. Research by the National Toxicology Programme — an interagency programme of the Department of Health and Human Services classified formaldehyde as a known human carcinogen.

About the innovative product, Ramakanth V Akula, President – Decoratives, Nippon Paint (India) Pvt. Ltd, said, “Nippon Paint has always supported initiatives to encourage environmental sustainability and to protect the world we live in. In Asia, the company pro-actively sets the ball rolling in the paint industry by being the first to launch odourless paint (Odour-less Premium All-in-1), which has almost no paint odour, and is near-zero volatile organic compounds (VOC).’’
