NR Narayana Murthy’s return to head the Bangalore-based information technology company Infosys is already witnessing ‘corrective measures’.
The Chairman Emeritus of the software exporter who was brought back recently to provide direction to the company is now said to have initiated overhauling of their strategy towards their biggest market; the US.
The American markets have been under pressure and Infosys in particular has faced the heat of the uncertainty in this market.
Earlier as well NRN had replaced Infosys Board member BG Srinivas with former CFO (chief financial officer) V Balakrishnan as chairman of their Swiss-based consultancy firm Lodestone.
The IT major saw a revenue decline of 1.3 per cent year-on-yeary in the US markets which added to their string of poor performances including the stock crash after announcing their Q4 results. Infosys tanked nearly 22 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) after a below expectations results were announced.
Sources said that the company is gearing up for more changes as NRN has brought in his team from his family investment firm Catamaran which includes his computer scientist son Rohan Murthy.
The team from Catamaran, including his son, will serve as executive assistants to NRN who returned as the Executive Chairman of the company. It was also reported that the sales team in the US would be revamped. However, the same could not be confirmed.
Meanwhile, fall in the rupee versus the US currency is broadly seen as a positive factor for export-focused IT sector.
