KOCHI: The geeks at GadgEon, a Kochi-based embedded system company, has used the Internet of Things(IoT) technology to connect and integrate many traditionally non-connected apparatus like home appliances, entertainment and personal healthcare devices.

GadgEon has made great strides in testing and deployment of IoT technology in large farms in the US, in which an implant inside the cow monitors its vital parameters like temperature and heart rate and transmits the data wirelessly to a cloud-based application through an intermediate gateway. This technology will allow large-scale farms to detect diseases early, treat it and contain the spread of the disease and thereby increasing the profitability.

The company is specialised mainly in IoTbased product realisation from specifications to prototypes to application. As the natural extension of IoT product development, GadgEon has already made its mark in the home automation sector. The company offers system integration services in home and building automation for domestic market under the brand name GadgEon Lifestyle.
It is specialised in custom design, supply and installation of audio/ visual, lighting controls and integrated electronic systems for houses. The core members of the technical team include Aravind Ravikumar, Shiyas Shihabudeen, Jino Sebastian, Girishkumar P R, Rajeev G Nair and Sreejith Bhaskaran Nair, who are also the founding members. Girish, one of the cofounders, says IoT would be one of the major technologies that can shape and revolutionise the future.
GadgEon is on a mission to come up with their own product in the field of healthcare by 2015, which will be revolutionary and at the same time locally relevant.
