THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Recently, Enfin Technologies India Pvt Ltd, a six-year-old product-based startup incubated in T-BIC, Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, became a topic of discussion among the startup spectrum in the state.Reason: The company achieved recognition by roping in three IT stalwarts into their advisory board as mentors.
The move to bring in Arup Gupta (former president of TCS, US), Subrata Dutta (former-CIO/VP - PricewaterhouseCoopers, Genpact) and Hugo Yepez (former-VP (Corp), Johnson & Johnson, US), to the company’s advisory board is expected to take the startup to greater heights by channelising the market strategies globally.
Though a couple of other firms in Technopark too shared this distinction, Enfin has more reasons to cheer about: the launch of its flagship product ‘Ofabee.’ According to Ayyappan Ashokan, the founder CEO of Enfin Technologies, it was the reward of an unusual thought that evolved into ‘Ofabee’ - a cloud-based online training platform packed with features like live streaming, engaging video delivery and text-to-voice technology.
‘Ofabee’ helps enterprises provide online training to their employees and gives a complete real-time analytics of their training process.
“We are focusing on improving the training process of enterprises and educational institutions through Ofabee(www.ofabee.com). Earlier, we were providing services of video streaming technologies and solutions such as video and web conference applications, virtual classroom applications, webinar applications etc. for education and corporate industries in the US and for Canadian-based customers,” Ayyappan said.
He further said that ‘Ofabee’ helps competitive exam coaching institutes like IIT-JEE, medical and engineering entrance, Bank PO and PSC coaching institutes, to capture their lectures and deliver as courses. It enables the coaching institutes to package their courses online and sell it to the students across India. Thus a training institute in Kerala helps deliver their coaching through online all over the country.
In fact, the journey was not smooth for Ayyappan Ashokan and Shyamkumar, who quit lucratic jobs in IT firms in Bengaluru, to start Effin Technologies. With around two years of experience in the IT field, they decided to set up a startup focusing on the booming video streaming technologies. “After the initial troubles, we stepped into the services industry and later reached a comfort zone, where we could meet the expenses of the company’s operations. But our ultimate aim was to develop a product-based company, which prompted us to stop services, which were generating a good revenue, and focus on developing our product ‘Ofabee,” Ayyappan said.
He added that the company is planning to scale up marketing and sales activities this financial year. After the success at Technopark, the company has begun operations in Bengaluru. With innovative ideas in mind in addition to the spirit of teamwork, the company is looking to scale new heights by launching an array of global products.
