Selfies or Power Point Presentations, this Digital Ring Does it All

Rohildev and his startup Fin Robotics came into the limelight when the company (its name was RHLVision then) raised around $2,00,000 (about `1.34 cro re) from 1,600 people across the globe through crowdfunding in 2014.

Till that date no startup from the state was able to raise such a big amount. The amount was to make Fin, a tiny hardware product that you can wear on your thumb as a ring and which converts your whole palm into a gesture interface.

Hails from Malappuram district in Kerala, Rohildev N started RHLVision in 2012 at the Startup Village in Kochi to work on touchless technologies, a project he started during his final year of engineering.

After one-and-a-half-year of continuous efforts after the crowdfunding success in 2014, the company has launched its product in the market and the name was changed from Fin to Neyya.

RHLVision also changed its name to Fin Robotics and shifted its base from Kochi to Thiruvananthapuram.

Neyya, formerly called ‘Fin’, is a smart ring which has a metal frame and a jewel like ‘smart’ chiclet. The ring has features that enables you to take selfies, play music, get call or message notifications and even giving power point presentations, all with a swap or tap of your palm.

“The ring can be connected to the laptop via bluetooth while it has LED indicators which notify you of calls or messages. It is like any normal ring which you can wear in your index or any other finger of your choice,” says Rohildev, founder of Fin Robotics.

Neyya is built in Japan and is available in two versions: one in titanium finish and the other 18-carat gold-plated.

It can be ordered online, and shipping has begun.

Apart from crowd-funding Fin Robotics has raised $3 million from Kalaari Capital, a venture capital firm, in Series A investment to make Neyya a reality.

Rohildev reveals that it took the startup 250 days to develop the concept into a product, starting to make the prototypes in 2013.

Fin Robotics was selected as one of the top 50 startups in the world from 2,000 startups all over the world at the Pioneers Festival 2013 held in Vienna. Also, it was among the top 15 startups in the  world at the CES’14 TechCrunch Hardware Battlefield at Las Vegas.
