BHUBANESWAR: The Reserve Bank of India has issued Rs 100 denomination currency notes with a new numbering pattern. The notes in the Mahatma Gandhi series-2005 will show numerals in both the front and rear number panels in an ascending size from right to left.

Printing the numerals in ascending size is a visible security feature that will enable the general public to easily distinguish a counterfeit note. The new numbering pattern will be introduced in a phased manner in all other denominations, an RBI release stated.
