BENGALURU: Vistara and Jet Airways and are the two airlines that have maintained a record of being the most punctual in June among all scheduled domestic airlines while operating from Bengaluru airport, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has revealed. GoAir, however, had the worst record among the six airlines on the punctuality factor from the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

These aspects were highlighted in DGCA’s June 2018 report on ‘Performance of Domestic Airlines’ made public recently. Air India, Jet Airways (and Jetlite) Vistara, GoAir, SpiceJet and IndiGo were compared for their ‘on-time performance’ in the airports of New Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bengaluru.

The main reason for the delays (64%) are ‘reactionary’, the report states. Reactionary or ‘knock-on’ delays refer to previous late arrivals or departures, it is learnt.

Domestic passenger figures for the second quarter from April to June across the country, revealed that 346.94 lakh passengers travelled in 2018 as compared to 288.76 lakh passengers during the same period last year. Half-yearly figures compared with the previous year reveal a 21.95% growth in passenger traffic. While 684.83 lakh passengers were carried from January to June 2018, 561.55 lakh passengers were carried in the first half of 2017, the report specified.

Air Odisha received most complaints
A total of 677 complaints from passengers have been received in June with Air Odisha, Air India and Jet Airways, taking the top three positions. Passengers appear to be pretty upset with Air Odisha as it has received the lion’s share of 42.7% of overall complaints. IndiGo continues to remain way ahead of its competitors by transporting 40.7% of the overall passengers with the second-placed Jet Airways carrying 13.9% of passengers. Air India (12.9%) and SpiceJet (12.3%) Problems related to flights constitute 29.2% of the complaints while other problems are baggage and customer service related problems. Overall, domestic passengers seem to be happy with the food on board as merely 0.1% of overall complaints are related to catering.
