Gayathri is an engineering student of Information Sciences in her final year at Revanna Siddheswara Institute of Technology and she perfectly fits the bill of an engineering student. She seems to be a bright young girl, so if she admits that she is just about scraping through college with second class grades, one would be curious to know why.
Lazy? Far from it, she is too busy ferrying passengers around town in her auto to get any spare time to spend on her textbooks, besides struggling as a model as well! Yes you heard right, a female auto driver in our city, one of her kind among the perpetually irritated, foul mouthed and untrustworthy male auto drivers in the city. She got her auto with the help of a loan from State Bank of Mysore, so that she could bring a bit of extra money into the house with which her mother and two young siblings could survive, besides of course paying off the huge debt hanging over their head. Her dad left his family when she and her siblings were buried under a heap of debts, and her mother, Rajeshwari had to shoulder it all on her own which got her all the more deeper into trouble, being cheated by others on the way. Besides having to grow up without a father by their side, she and her two siblings had to shoulder a lot of responsibility early in their lives.
She chose to drive an auto as it meant instant money, and they all managed to pull through together. Whenever the lenders threatened and bullied them to return the money, they were helped out by a certain Ganganna, a jeep driver at Vyalikaval police station.
A girl who hasn’t buckled in the face of intense situations, and has done everything it took to support herself and her family. As for her future, after completing her degree, she plans to go for the IAS examinations and serve the country some day.
