BANGALORE: A century-old building of the erstwhile St Joseph’s Arts and Science campus on Residency Road is being brought down after lying unused for some time.

The building, which has not seen classes being conducted for the past eight years, is being brought down as structural engineers warned that it could prove dangerous.

A faculty member said, “The building has been shaky for a couple of years now. After the Arts and Science college shifted to Langford road, it has remained locked up.” The 126-year-old St Joseph’s Arts and Science College is one of the oldest educational institutions set up in the city. Ranjith S, a former student of the Institute, says that it was unfortunate that a building with such a long history had to be demolished.
