BANGALORE: The High Court on Thursday issued notice to the information department on a petition challenging the selection of films to subsidise for 2007-2008. Hearing a petition filed by Priya Hassan, actress, producer and director, Justice Mohanshanthan Gowder issued the notice.

The selection committee, headed by director Siddalingaiah, had selected 26 quality films, two children’s films and three other films of historical significance for subsidy.

The petitioner had produced “Jambada Hudugi,” a Kannada film recently.

According to Priya, her film was more qualitative than those selected for subsidy.

The selectors had colluded with the directors and selected less qualitative and crime-oriented films for subsidy, she argued. The petitioner has sought a stay on the selection list of the films announced on July 21.
