BANGALORE: Former president A P J Abdul Kalam shared his vision of reducing the cost of launching satellites from the existing $20,000 per kg to $2,000 per kg by the year 2050. Participating at an interactive session with students of Mount Carmel College here on Saturday, Kalam said that if his vision comes true then it would create a ‘revolution’ in the field of astronomy.

He advised the students to deal with the environment pollution by planting saplings.

“The country has 300 million youths. The nation could easily have 1.5 billion trees if each one could plant five saplings.

Assuming that about half a billion saplings are lost, the country could still have a billion trees,” Kalam said.

Kalam said that environment pollution could also be checked by making extensive use of nuclear, atomic, solar and biomass energy along with proper use of renewable energy.
