BANGALORE: A day after it partially resumed bus services to Tirupati, the KSRTC on Sunday called back six buses which were not allowed to cross the Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh border.
KSRTC officials said six buses, which included four Rajahamsa buses and two Karnataka Sarige buses, were operated on the Tirupati sector on Sunday morning.
“However, upon reaching the border near Nangli Cross in Kolar district, the buses were not allowed to proceed,” they informed.
After waiting for a few hours, the buses were forced to return to Bangalore as the situation remained tense on the other side of the border. On Saturday evening, the KSTRC operated four Rajahamsa to Tirupati sector without any disruption, following which they decided to partially resume services on Sunday.
Tirupati package tour
Meanwhile, tour packages on the Tirupati sector are likely to be affected on Monday following the on-going strikes in different parts of Andhra Pradesh over the Telangana issue.
“We will decide whether to operate or not on Monday,” said KSTDC General Manager B Prabhudev adding that the tour package to Tirupati was suspended only for one day, December 16. Buses operated by KSTDC and ITDC—mainly night buses—on the sector are currently running a few hours late. Buses which used to depart from Bangalore at 7.30 pm are now leaving at 10 pm. On the way back the buses don’t start before 5 pm due to strikes in parts of Andhra.
