BANGALORE: Indushree, India’s first female ventriloquist, performed with a 10-foot doll on Saturday, in an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records.

The doll, almost twice her height, was named after the demon Mahisashura. Indushree’s 40-minute performance enthralled the audience, who were spellbound by her ability to speak in her natural voice and in the demon’s voice alternately, and also her ability to manipulate the facial movements of the doll. Indushree’s father RN Ravindra made the doll.

Ventriloquists generally use lap dolls or dolls mounted on pedestals for their performances.

The biggest doll ever used by a ventriloquist is five feet tall.

Indushree, who is from Bangalore, has already entered the Limca Book of Records for being the country’s first female ventriloquist and for being the first female ventriloquist to have performed in more than 3,000 magic shows across the country.
