BANGALORE: Thousands of Muslim devotees witnessed a ‘miracle’ at the 120-year-old Hazrath Sadiq Ali Shah Hussaini (R A) Dargah here on Mysore Road on Wednesday.

In the late afternoon, a 65-year-old woman, Qamar Unissa, a holy items’ vendor at the Dargah, noticed water coming out from the Hazrath Mehboobe Subhani Urf Ghous-e-Pak Green Symbol (RA), a holy metal pole. Qamar, a resident of Byatarayanapura who has been selling flowers since 20 years in dargah, said that she noticed water coming out from the holy pole at around 4 pm.

“I was surprised to see the miracle. Water was coming out from a hole and I informed the neighbouring furniture shop owner,” she recollected.

Syed Mubashir Ahmed, the furniture shop owner, tasted the water. “I took the water in my hand and tasted it. It’s holy water and tasted sweet with the fragrance of rose and sandalwood,” he said.

Qamar informed this to Haji Saab Syed Najmuddin and the news spread like wildfire.

Devotees thronged the dargah to get a glimpse of the miracle and collected the holy water in water bottles and plastic cups.

Women and children waited for long for their turn and there was a huge rush, thus bringing traffic to a near halt on Mysore Road as people from Bapujinagar and surrounding areas visited the ‘holy place’.

Syed Kashif Ahmed said that the flow of the holy water slowed down after 6.45 pm.

Vendors made the most of the phenomenon and started selling plastic cups at Rs 2 to the devotees.
