BANGALORE: The 12-day All India Vayu Sainik Camp, a national-level camp for Air Wing NCC cadets, concluded on Thursday at the Jakkur airfield in the city.
About 600 Air Wing cadets including 180 girl cadets from 15 directorates from all parts of the country participated in the camp that was conducted by the NCC Directorate, Karnataka and Goa.
During the All India Vayu Sainik Camp, which is also the testing ground for all Air Wing activities of NCC, the cadets learnt a plethora of aviationrelated activities, organised in a systematic and planned manner.
T hese activities included gliding, microlight aircraft flying, static aero-modelling, control line and skeet shooting.
Apart from these activities, the cadets also got a chance to fly in the Air Force transport aircraft and helicopters at the Air Force Station, Yelahanka.
They also visited Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
On the concluding day of the camp, Air Commodore Ravi Dhar, deputy director general, NCC Directorate (Karnataka and Goa), hoped that the young aviation enthusiasts would go on to become air warriors of the Indian Air Force or pursue a career in the civil aviation industry.
He also awarded the winners in various competitions held during the camp. The home team of Karnataka and Goa Directorate bagged three of the five trophies for ‘Best Tech Air Squadron,’ ‘Line area’ and ‘Drill.’
