BANGALORE: The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (Comed-K) has reacted to the proposed single CET pattern, saying that they have had no idea about Aravind Limbavali’s statement.
“I don’t see any possibility of holding a single CET at this time. The government has not even invited us for talks. Even if they do, we have to discuss it at our executive committee and take a final decision,’’ MLA and head of private educational institutions Shyamanur Shivashankarappa told Express.
He said that several Comed-K colleges were against having a single CET.
Slamming the government for cooperating with Comed-K colleges, he asked “why should they (private colleges) we cooperate with them.’’ “Last year, the Comed-K colleges had given an oral confirmation for a single CET for 2010- 11,” he said, adding that the proposal to have single CET first came from them.
“We had asked to accommodate some Comed-K members in the CET cell. So far, there is no response from the government,” he said and concluded that “keeping all these things in mind, Comed-K colleges may not agree to the single CET.” Comed-K head Kumar added the government was not properly responding to them. “As long as they continue to cold shoulder us, we too would remain like that,” he said. If the government is so keen on having a single CET, why did they announce dates unilaterally without consulting us, a private college administrator asked.
