BANGALORE: On the eve of Deepavali, the city witnessed four murders. Four persons including two brothers were hacked to death since Wednesday night.
A 27-year-old loan recovery agent in KP Agrahara, 35-year-old Jabi, elder brother of notorious rowdy Nasru and 30-year-old Ambi, a hotel employee, who died in Cottonpet, and Chetan in Rajagopalanagar are the deceased.
Jabi alias Syed Jabi, a 35-yearold rowdy sheeter in Siddapura police station, was stabbed to death outside his house at Subhash Nagar on Wednesday night.
Jabi was the elder brother of Nasru, a notorious criminal who was shot dead by the police in 2005.
On Wednesday, when Jabi was watching TV at his home in Subhash Nagar under Electronics City police station limits, three assailants allegedly called him outside and later stabbed him, the police said.
His family members who tried to rescue Jabi were also attacked by the miscreants and were admitted to hospital. Old rivalry is the main reason behind the murder, said police, who have formed a special team to nab the assailants.
Jabi belonged to a rowdy gang which used to kidnap live-band artistes and rape them later. Jabi’s brother Nasru was their team leader, while two other brothers Wasim and Jafrullah were also in their team. Nasru was shot down by the then ACP of city crime branch (CCB) B K Shivaram and his team in March, 2005.
In another incident, on Wednesday night, a five-member gang stabbed S Regan along with his elder brother S Joseph at around 8.30 pm under KP Agrahara police station limits.
While Regan died on the spot, Joseph is under treatment for injuries at a private hospital. “Both Regan and Joseph are residents of Sunkadakatte and are loan recovery agents by profession. An old rivalry between the assailants and the victims led to the attack,” police said.
In another incident late on Wednesday night, a love triangle ended up in the beheading of a 23-year-old man under Rajagopalanagar police station limits.
The victim is S Chetan of Andhralli, who was found murdered in the backyard of a hotel in Peenya 2nd stage. Shivananjaiah, his father, said that his son left home around 8.30 pm to have dinner with his friends. “He was last seen at NTTF Circle while talking to his friends around 10.30 pm. Passersby informed us on seeing the body on Thursday morning,” police said.
Ambi (30), a resident of Siddharthanagar was stabbed to death by his friends under Cottonpet police station limits on Wednesday night. While Ambi was returning after dinner with his friends Saleem and Manju, he was assaulted by Rajesh and others over a monetary dispute. He succumbed to injuries while being rushed to the hospital.
