Calling all parents and their teenage kids

Film: Cheluvina Chilipili Cast: Pankaj, Roopika, Sumalatha, Ananth Nag, Dwarakeesh, Rajendra Karanth Direction: S Narayan Cheluvina Chilipili is a remake of the Telugu film Kotha Bangaaru Lokam. Director S Narayan deserves credit for selecting a very good subject, which is suitable all age groups, to make a film for his son Pankaj. This film is especially suited for parents, and adolescents who often fail to differentiate between love and attraction.

As far as Pankaj’s performance is concerned, he has improved a lot. His performance, especially in song sequences, is a treat to watch.

However, he has to hone his skills in dialogue delivery. Though he has been born and brought up in Bangalore, he is unable to speak Kannada fluently. Had the director used a dubbing artiste for Pankaj, the film would have been a better one. Roopika has done a neat job. She can be an asset for Sandalwood if she takes her career in films seriously.

The USP of this film is the melodious songs.

The added value of this film is cinematography by Jagadeesh Vali who has succeeded in capturing the beauty of Rajahmandry and its surrounding areas, especially the railway bridge on Godavari river.

The performance of Ananth Nag and Sumalath as affectionate and loving parents is very impressive. If college students have such parents, they would need nothing more in this world. Rajendra Karanth is convincing as a villain while Kote Prabhakar plays a different character role.

Balu (Pankaj) joins an engineering college.

Sapna (Roopika) also joins the same college.

Both of them fall in love. In a peculiar situation, Sapna’s father comes to know about it. He takes her home and plans to arrange her wedding with an affluent person. Balu decides to elope with her. Meanwhile, Balu’s father passes away.

The climax is about how Balu and Sapna’s lives turn out. All in all, a film that you will enjoy.
